Tony La Russa DUI Arrest Video & DUI Mistakes spelled out by a DUI Defense Attorney

Tony La Russa made at least 10 mistakes during his Florida DUI arrest, and a Fort Lauderdale DUI attorney spells them out.

His most recent mistake? Getting a second DUI and trying to get out of it by saying: "Do you see my ring?” “I’m a hall of famer baseball person.” “I’m legit. I’m a hall of famer brother." According to Yahoo Sports.

Tony La Russa, 76, made similar mistakes in his first DUI (Driving Under the Influence charge) back in 2007.

He drank and then drove - and then subsequently fell asleep at  the wheel at an intersection in Jupiter, Florida. And then... well watch the video for the other 10 mistakes he made:

The original Jupiter police body camera video used for this video was shared by Palm Beach Post on YouTube.

This video has been edited and captions detailing all of La Russa's DUI fumbles (Foul balls? Too soon?) are courtesy of Rossen Law Firm.

Tony La Russa DUI Video arrest mistakes: Revealed in Jupiter Police Body Camera Video

1 - He doesn't invoke his right to remain silent. He tells cops where he'd been.

2 - He told police he'd been drinking AND said he'd had 2 drinks. (PS: Police say "everyone" says they've had 2 drinks - so if you say you've had 2 drinks, the assume you've had more.)

3 - He consents to field sobriety tests (in Florida, there is absolutely NO penalty for not doing the field sobriety tests - so don't do them. Ever. Even if you're sober.)

4 -  Totally flops the field sobriety tests. He wobbles, can't keep his balance, and invents a new alphabet.

5 - He keeps talking in the police car. Legitimate questions might be ok, but in general silence is golden. It does the most to protect, and not hurt you, until you have an attorney.

6 - He consents to a breath test - TWICE. You can say no, there are consequences, however. On a first DUI, we typically recommend saying no to breath tests. In general, all breath tests do is help police build their case against you (the main penalty for refusing the breath tests comes at the cost of potential drivers license suspension)

7 - He keep talking, again.

8 - He admits to having been drinking. He also says how many drinks he's had. This is a bad idea. Police will never believe you no matter how many drinks you say, and what you just did by admitting to drinking and driving was confirm their suspicion that you might be under the influence.

9 - Answering Questions - again, especially when police ask questions you want to let them know you're using your right to remain silent and that they'll have to wait until you have an attorney present.

10 - "do you know who I am?" -- police don't care and DUI's don't discriminate
